SETC works to close the digital divide in the Boston area by providing opportunity to learn, use, and understand technology.
“SETC staff realized that developing and celebrating the design, engineering, and inventing prowess of neighborhood teens would translate into early interest in [technology] among their younger peers”
-Dr. Millner, Professor at Franklin W. Olin College of Engineering
SETC was founded in 1997 by Civil Rights Leader Mel King to expand access to technology in Boston communities. It was a partnership with Tent City and MIT. In 2003, SETC worked with MIT's Center for Bits and Atoms to bring digital fabrication to SETC. This led to the first "Fab Lab"
